Jersey British territory #2 to approve assisted dying
Just Royal assent is required now, and it is hopeful that it will become law next year.
It will allow doctors to administer a lethal injection, even if the individual has lost mental capacity, so long as they had agreed to this while having mental capacity.
Doctors will however, be given the right to refuse such administration.
There will be a review again in 3 years.
It will also only apply to residents of Jersey who have been so for a minimum period of 12 months, to avoid health tourism.
It is expected that Wales will follow suit in the NHS if a specific bill going through its motions in the houses of parliament is ultimately approved.
