The role of a Trustee
A Trustee has what is called a fiduciary responsibility.
This means that they must always act in the best interests of the beneficiaries.
A Trustee needs to:
Ensure all conditions and instructions within the Trust are followed including any Trust wishes set out by the Settlor (the person who originally set up the Trust) regarding how funds are to be administered
To act impartially between beneficiaries
Provide information to the beneficiaries regarding accounts and investments and any relevant documentation
Act unanimously with all other Trustees
