Why having a Prepaid Funeral Plan or Funeral insurance in Spain is pretty much essential

When you die in Spain, cremation will usually be required to have taken place within 48 hours.

Because this is so different to what you will have been used to in the UK, this will definitely be a traumatic and daunting experience for most if you do not have a prepaid funeral plan or specific funeral insurance in place to take care of everything.

Everything will need to be paid for upfront and you will be looking at an average of 4000€-5000€ that your loved ones will need to find quickly.

In contrast, a prepaid funeral plan should cost no more than 2600€ (funeral insurance will of course depend on the age you are when you take it out as the older you are the more expensive it will be).

You should be aware that death certificates are only usually issued after the cremation has taken place which can inhibit access to funds that will almost certainly require the death certificate to be produced in order to be released.

And of course, there is the inevitable language barrier for the loved ones you leave behind to overcome also, so when choosing a provider of a prepaid funeral plan or an insurance policy, do your research and ensure they have fluent English-speaking staff to help your family when the time comes.
